Roche nets winner to decide battle of county cup finalists

The battle between the Newark Alliance Senior Division’s top two lived up to its billing as a pulsating affair was eventually settled by a Matt Roche goal in the dying minutes of extra-time.
In a game that was evenly contested, it was the Notts Senior Trophy winners RHP Social who took the lead after 20 minutes when a Ryan Goodrick shot was tipped on to the post by Chris Franks only for the rebound to be slotted home by Sam Lowe.
But Notts Intermediate Cup runners-up Newark Town refused to let their heads drop and turned the game around before the interval thanks to two goals from the impressive James Trentini.
