Things are looking up at the Greaves stable

Seven years ago Carl Greaves was looking at an uncertain future.
The Newark boxer had been advised to give up life in the ring after routine brain scans, but he was loath to turn on his back on the sport that had given him everything.

He started at the age of 11 under the wing of coach Dick Daubney, and a successful schoolboy career eventually led to a world title on an unforgettable night in Nottingham.

At the age of 28, he refused to turn his back on his first love, and became the youngest manager and promoter in the country.

Now he has a thriving stable up and running inside the Affordable Fitness premises on Newark Industrial Estate, and is looking forward to bringing the legendary Joe Calzhage to Newark Showground in October.
