Thunder claim title by calming Storm

Kenya Watson and Lewis Garland were joint winners of the under-11 most valuable player awards for Trent Tornadoes Basketball Club over the season.
Monday evening saw a thrilling finale in the North Notts Under-13 Basketball League at Grove School’s Lilley and Stone site.
The final match of the season brought together unbeaten teams Newark Thunder and Newark Storm, with the title going to the winners of the match.
The first quarter was very low scoring, with Thunder leading 8-5 after both teams were clearly feeling the pressure and squandered many point-scoring opportunities.
The second quarter saw Thunder take a strong lead, with point guard Josh Messam driving powerfully to the basket, while Matt Fairfax contributed some intelligent play and added six points.
Although they were trailing 22-10, the half-time talk from coach Lisa Radford had the desired effect and Storm went on to produce their best quarter of the game.
