Balderton surrendered top spot in division A of the South Notts League despite a superb return to form for batsman Tim Clipsham.

Batsman Mark Townrow contributed 52 runs to help Farndon to victory over Ellerslie 2nds in Division E on Saturday. (190610MW7-2)
Put in to bat against title rivals Plumtree, Clipsham added 137 runs with Dominic Wiffin for the second wicket before Wiffin was caught on the boundary for 57.
Clipsham continued to bat with freedom to reach his century, before he was finally caught for 123, as Balderton totalled 260 for five from 48 overs.
Chasing a challenging total, Plumtree’s batsmen showed their ability as openers Ben Thompson and Steve James put on 86.
When Thompson was out, James was joined by Michael Tew and they added another 124 between them.
The two were eventually removed for 90 and 55 respectively, but in an exciting finish Plumtree got home with seven balls to spare to win by five wickets.
In division D, struggling Newark slipped to defeat against Hoveringham.
Despite scoring a respectable 207 from 45 overs, Newark couldn’t prevent the visitors from overhauling them, thanks mainly to an unbeaten 96 from Shaun Polley.
Southwell 2nds fared better, comfortably beating Willoughby OTW by eight wickets.
An unbeaten 83 from Alex Rainbow guided the team home as they easily chased down Willoughby’s 177.
