Town into third after derby win
10:17am Wed Dec 28, 2011
A single goal was enough for Newark Town to edge out local rivals Southwell City and move into third in the top-of-the-table shake-up.
The game was played in front of 143 at Station Road — Town’s highest home attendance since 2008.

Calum Fraser’s cool finish in the 35th minute — the club’s 500th goal since joining the Central Midlands League — proved enough to sink Southwell.

Fraser was played in by a defence-splitting pass from Ian Hillier, and calmly took the ball round Parkes before rolling it into the empty net.

Newark are next in action on January 7 when they travel to AFC Hucknall in the League Cup.
