Three powerlifters from a Newark gym picked up medals at the recent Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships at the University of Bournemouth.
Paralympic powerlifter Natalie Blake, 28, of Newark, claimed gold in the 52kg class, Megan Ainsworth, 18, of Gainsborough, also took first place in the 43kg class, while Southwell’s 20-year-old lifter Will Johnson won silver in the 59kg section.

All three train out of Affordable Fitness, on Brunel Drive, Newark.

Their coach, Keith Blake, said: “This was a fantastic event for our lifters. Each one of them performed very well.

“I cannot ask for any more than this. They just keep on winning.”
