Wood ends wait for Irish honours

The 31st St Patrick’s Day competition at Newark Golf Club saw the coveted green jacket back on home shoulders for the first time in four years.
Friday’s stableford tournament was blessed with excellent weather, and the sun shone on Newark Golf Club’s Jason Wood.

He pipped Martin Bellamy of Stoke Rochford Golf Club on countback after they both finished on 39 points, with Tony Roche of Norwood Park Golf Club finishing in third place with 38 points, again on countback.
