Once again an encouraging feature of Newark’s continued unbeaten run at the top of the league was the emergence of young players.
The versatile Mark Byrom, who has also played at centre, continued at scrum-half to help Newark dominate proceedings and grabbed the second try, darting away down the blindside.
Wing Will Britten, the club’s leading try scorer, continued his good form by adding a second-half try to his tally of 14 posted pre-Christmas.
Byrom’s try followed an opening effort from Chris Tate in the fifth minute.
Newark had notched up a bonus point by half-time, flanker Lewis Cove and Aloesi Waqalevu touching down as well after sweeping moves.
Newark led 22-0 at the break, Matt Cox having converted the fourth try.
Three more touchdowns followed in the second half through Alex Moore, Britten and a second from Waqalevu.
Cox converted the final try which completed victory by seven tries to nil with Melton's only score of the 80 minutes coming via a 50th minute penalty.
