Youngers and Avengers in final

The ladies’ Knockout Cup Final in the Newark and District Double Board Darts League will be an all-Newark Working Men’s Club affair after both their sides safely negotiated the second leg of their semi-final matches.

Cup holders Youngers, who were already 3-1 ahead against the White Swan Cygnets after the first leg match, moved to within one leg of the final after Helen Colton checked out in the opener.

The Cygnets kept their hopes alive in the next when Jenny Mason finished on 33 but the tie was sewn up when Linda Gregory checked out in the next. The remaining legs were shared to give the cup holders a 3-2 win on the night and a 6-3 scoreline on aggregate.

The Avengers, who were up against the 2009 cup winners Cafferatas, also had a 3-1 cushion from the first leg and secured the tie when Jackie Adcock was on target to finish the opening two legs to set up a final appearance against their in-house rivals.

The Avengers eventually ran out 3-2 winners on the night to also secure a 6-3 victory on aggregate.
