GOURLEY On August 18, 2006, Betty, of Healey Close, Collingham, and Holly House, London Road, Newark. It is of comfort that ''Granbo'', after a full and active life sought, and at last found, peace, surrounded by her family, and nursed most compassionately during the final week of her life at Red Rose Nursing Home, Farndon. Betty was a much loved mother and godmother and ''the best grandmama in the whole wide world'' as we often told her. She was a best friend to her grandchildren, and her company, support and humour will be sorely missed by us all. Betty had a wide circle of wonderful friends who brought colour and fun to her life, particularly at Torksey Golf Club, Collingham, Winthorpe and Lincoln. A service for Betty will be held at St John's Church, South Collingham, at 3pm on Friday, September 15 and afterwards at Holly House so we can all celebrate her life. HAXBY On August 21, 2006, peacefully in hospital following complications arising from a fall at home, Donald Leslie (Don) CBE, Hon FRCVS. Eminent veterinary surgeon, a maverick, held in great affection by many. Former husband of Barbara, father to Joanna, Adrian and Elizabeth, grandfather to Henry, Edmund, Tink, William, Clementine and Dominic. Much loved companion in recent years of Muriel (Charlie). We will miss him very much. Funeral service for family and friends at the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Upton, at 2.30pm on August 31. A memorial service will be held in London in due course.
