Chance to bag a bargain

Seventy-five pairs of Jimmy Choo shoes, and outfits by Prada and other top designers are just a small selection of items to be sold in aid of Beaumond House Community Hospice.

The designer nearly new sale, to be held at the Cedric Ford Pavilion at Newark Showground on Sunday, March 9 and Monday, March 10, is the second organised by hospice volunteers Mrs Sheila Drummond and Mrs Molly Sykes.

The two women began collecting new and nearly new clothes, shoes, handbags and accessories in September. Mrs Drummond said: “I wrote 500 letters.

Mostly to people I didn’t know, but their names had been suggested to me.

“We have had a tremendous response.” Mrs Sykes said: “We have been sorting, pricing and storing clothes for months. “

We also have shoes, bags, hats, accessories and men’s shirts and ties.”

The two women organised a similar sale five years ago and raised £14,000 for the hospice.

They are hoping to double the total this year, especially as the sale is on for two days.

Wine “We have all sizes and clothes for all ages. A lot of younger people will be keen on some of the retro items we have,” said Mrs Drummond.

Entrance to the Sunday sale, which starts at 4pm until 9.30pm is £10 and includes canapes and a glass of wine. Entrance to the Monday sale, from 10am to 5pm, is £5.
