Vandals kick down fence
6:28am Fri Jul 30, 2010
Anti-social behaviour on a Bingham street is being investigated.
A resident living on Chestnut Avenue wrote to the town council asking for help over incidents of anti-social behaviour on the path behind the White Lion pub.

Mr Francis Purdue-Horan, a town councillor, said Rushcliffe Borough Council officers were already investigating the issue through its Anti-Social Behaviour Team.

Mr Purdue-Horan said most of the incidents happened late at night and involved the fence, which runs along the path, being kicked until it collapsed.

“We need to follow this to make sure it doesn’t get out of control,” he said.

“It is not a path that residents want closing and so that would be a last resort.

“We hope the investigations are productive and that the issue can be resolved.”

The most recent incidents were on June 12 and July 11.

One suggestion put forward was for security cameras to be put in the area.

Inspector Phil Hallam, of Bingham Police, said: “Before we think about putting in any CCTV cameras we will continue with our conventional policing methods to improve the problem and encourage members of the public to ring in if it continues.”
