The current coronavirus crisis has meant challenging times for all of us.
Some have lost their jobs, many cannot see loved ones and for all of us, our everyday life has been turned on its head.
But with adversity comes heroes - and we want to celebrate those selfless souls who are putting others first during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Whether it be the neighbour collecting shopping and walking dogs for old folk in a village, someone setting up a support group or a good Samaritan helping out the NHS, we know there are plenty of community heroes doing their bit in Newark at the moment.
And this is why we have launched our Citizen of the Week award! We will be rewarding the selfless efforts of special individuals.
