Newark Art Club hold spring exhibition of over 150 paintings at Newark Buttermarket
A vibrant exhibition of over 150 paintings by more than 25 artists is heading to a town centre venue.
Newark Art Club’s spring exhibition will this year be held in Newark’s Buttermarket from, Thursday, April 25, to Saturday, May 4.
With a variety of artwork, from abstract paintings to ink drawings, the exhibition will showcase the town’s artistic talents.
It is the first time the group of artists will hold the exhibition at the venue, having previously displayed their work at Newark Parish Church and Ann Et Vin.
John Geeson, art club member and exhibition organiser, said: “There’s landscapes, animals, abstract, pen and ink, watercolour — you name it.
“There’s a massive range of mediums.”
All the artwork on display will be for sale, with a portion of each sale donated to Beaumond House, and visitors are also invited to vote for their favourite painting by filling in a slip when they visit.
“Last time we had over 400 slips filled out,” John added.
“There’s a lot of new artwork which hasn’t been submitted for an exhibition before, work that has been done this year.”
Newark Art Club has also gained a number of new members recently, whose work will be among those on display.
Members of the public can see the exhibition between 10am and 4pm each day during its run.
The group will also be making a donation to Beaumond House Hospice Care.
