Mansfield man sentenced at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court after stealing alcohol from Co-Op in Newark

A man was jailed after stealing large quantities of alcohol — including three crates of lager — from Newark supermarkets multiple times over a week.

Daniel Brown, 19, of Longstone Way, Ladybrook, Mansfield was sentenced at Nottingham Magistrates Court on October 11.

The court heard that on January 10, Brown stole a four-pack of Stella Artois from the Lincolnshire Co-Op Foodstore on Barnbygate, Newark, and three days later, stole three crates of lager of an unknown value from the same store.

Then on January 14, he stole a 12-pack of Heineken to the value of £12 from the Lincolnshire Cooperative on Bowbridge Road, Newark and then later that day, used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress at the Co-Op on Barnbygate.

Brown pleaded guilty to all offences and was sentenced to four weeks in prison, and ordered to pay compensation of £100.

He was jailed due to the seriousness of his offences and the unprovoked attack of a serious nature.
