Man charged with the murder of Thomas Dear, who was pronounced dead on Lombard Street, Newark, in June
A 20-year-old man has been charged with murder following a fatal assault in Newark.
Emergency services were called to reports of a motorist in distress, just before 5pm on Monday June 16, at Lombard Street, Newark.
Despite the efforts of paramedics in attendance, 38-year-old Thomas Dear died at the scene shortly afterwards.
Nottinghamshire Police has confirmed that Thomas Dear (correct), aged 20, has been charged with murder.
Dear, of no fixed address, remains in custody and is next due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday December 8.
Detective chief inspector Ruby Burrow, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “A dedicated team of police officers and investigators have been carrying out extensive inquiries to determine the full circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
“As we announce this charge today, our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the deceased.”
An inquest into the death of the 38-year-old opened on October 17; however, it has been suspended pending a criminal trial.
