Newark: Planning application submitted for 66-bedroom care home off Bowbridge Lane
A planning application has been lodged for 66-bedroom care home.
The site is on Flaxley Lane, off Bowbridge Lane, Middlebeck.
In its planning statement, applicant LNT Care Development, which has 130 homes across Yorkshire, Lancashire and the Midlands, said it was proposing a two-storey purpose-built home with access, parking and landscaping.
The site already has outline planning consent as part of the over-arching approval granted to the Middlebeck housing development of around 3,150 homes.
The 1.2-acre site has already been stripped and is currently in use as compound and carpark and for the storage of top soil.
According to a study undertaken on behalf of the UK Contractors Group, a £1 investment in construction results in £2.84 in terms of benefits to the wider economy.
The report said: “The construction cost alone of the proposed development is substantial. This development should, therefore, result in an extremely large contribution to the local economy.
“In terms of employment generation, up to 60 jobs will be created that would be offered to suitable candidates from the local area.”
