Southwell Minster School receives ‘Good’ rating following Ofsted inspection

A school has been recognised for it’s commitment to the personal development of students and their education.

The Minster School, part of the Minster Trust for Education, has been graded as Good overall in a recent Ofsted report — but received Outstanding judgements for personal development and it’s sixth-form provision.

The report highlighted the school’s dedication to fostering a supportive and challenging environment, where students develop both academically and personally.

It was noted that staff have high expectations of pupils, who take their learning seriously, apply themselves, and achieve highly.

The school’s leadership was also praised as being “very well led and managed”, with leader having high expectations of pupils’ learning, attitudes and behaviours.

The quality of teaching is high, with teachers described as experts in their subjects, who skilfully track pupils’ learning and quickly identify and address errors and misconceptions.

Pupils also feel safe and know who to turn to if they have any worries.

Parents and carers also recognise the school’s strengths, including the wide range of opportunities provided for pupils’ personal development.

School head, Ben Chaloner, said: “This report is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, students, and the entire Minster School community.

“We are delighted with the recognition of our outstanding personal development and sixth-form provision, and we remain committed to providing an exceptional learning experience for our students.

“I am particularly pleased that the Ofsted team that visited the school recognised the wide-ranging excellence in school and reached such positive conclusions against a very challenging set of criteria.”
