Nova Education Trust helping school families with cost-of-living donations
The Nova Education Trust is raising money in its school communities this winter to help families struggling with the cost-of-living crisis.
The trust, which has the Newark Academy, Suthers School at Fernwood and Toot Hill School, Bingham, as well as other schools and academies in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, is working with its local suppliers to provide donations via a Justgiving page.
The fundraising is going well so far and they’re already well over half the way to its £25,000 target, having so far raised just under £15,000.
The Advertiser has made a donation to the pot.
The money raised will be used for care packages and gift vouchers to help those who need it most this winter.
Steve Orton, chief finance officer at Nova Education Trust, said: “The response so far has been fantastic and we are well on the way to our target.
“But, of course, we need more and we want to smash that £25,000 target as quickly as possible.
“There is huge financial pressures on families with higher energy costs, the increasing cost of the weekly shop and, for many, higher mortgage payments following the rise in interest rates.
“The donations will make the world of difference to a family at a very difficult time of year, particularly to those who are the least likely to ask for help and support.”
Anyone wishing to donate can do so online at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/novatrust
Firms that take part will be acknowledged on the Nova Education Trust website and social media profiles.
