Purpose demonstrated between the leaders of Nottinghamshire County Council, Nottingham City Council, Newark and Sherwood and the six other district and borough councils
For the first time there was a unity of purpose between the leaders of county, city and the seven district and borough councillors in progressing a devolution deal for Nottinghamshire.
This was demonstrated at a meeting on Friday attended by a number of those leaders at the home of Newark and Sherwood District Council, Castle House.
It was repeatedly said at the meeting of the City of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire economic prosperity committee that Nottinghamshire, and the wider East Midlands had lagged behind other areas of the country that already have devolved agreements. In fact, the region is one of only two left where such an agreement does not already exist.
