Reader’s letter: A well-deserved hero award

I read in the Advertiser about the wonderful business owner of Village Chic Newark, Lucretia Henry-Brewin, who received a special nomination for an MP HERoes Award (Business Hero Honoured, Advertiser, November 23).

MP HERoes isn't just a one-off award — it is building a strong peer group of women entrepreneurs to expand knowledge and business opportunities with each other in friendship in years to come.

This recognition celebrates outstanding individuals such as Lucretia Henry-Brewin who have made significant contributions to our Newark communities for 16 years.

I am so grateful for the support she gave my two charities - Newark Emmaus Trust and Sconce Hill Preschool Playgroup, Newark - during my time as Mayor of Newark.

I recognise them for going above and beyond by helping during my year as Newark Town Mayor.

I would like to express my thanks to the owner of Village Chic, Lucretia Henry-Brewin and Laura Hill who painted a special farewell suprise mural of thanks to me in my last few days as Newark Town Mayor in May 2023 which was seen by visitors coming into the town. — L. GOFF, former Town Mayor.
