A1 closed after accident

The southbound carriage of the A1 between Tuxford and Carlton-on-Trent is closed.

It follows an incident at 5.20 this morning involving a lorry and a car.

Police are appealing for witnesses and want to hear from anybody who saw anything or has dash-cam footage that may have captured either of the vehicles before the accident or the incident itself.

Both lanes southbound and one northbound are closed and are expected to remain so throughout the morning.

Diversions have been put in place.Traffic towards the A1 near Tuxford should exit at the Apleyhead junction and join the A614 southbound towards Ollerton.

At Ollerton join the A616 southbound towards South Muskham via Ompton and Caunton. At South Muskham join the B6325 northbound then rejoin the A1.
