A1 to stay closed for several hours after three-car crash near Newark
A three-car crash on the A1 just south of Newark has led to the closure of the road - and it is expected to remain closed for several hours.
The collision happened on the southbound carriageway near the Esso fuel garage at Marston, at around 5pm this afternoon (Thursday).
The southbound carriageway is closed between the A46 at Newark and the B1174 south of Grantham.
Vehicles travelling northbound on the A1 are being temporarily stopped to allow traffic queuing southbound near the incident to use a gap in the central reservation to cross on to the northbound carriageway.
A diversion is also in place along the A46 and A52, and Highways England is advising drivers to allow extra time for their journeys or to consider using alternative routes.
Highways England is working with the emergency services at the scene, and providing regular updates on its regional Twitter feed at @highwaysemids
