A1 remains closed following road traffic collision near Balderton, south of Newark, with Nottinghamshire Police and Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service in attendance




UPDATE: All lanes have now reopened.

Emergency services are attending the scene of a road traffic collision on the A1.

The northbound and southbound carriageways of the A1 remain closed, south of Balderton and Fernwood, following a serious collision this afternoon.

Nottinghamshire Police and Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene shortly after 2pm today (June 14) after it was reported that a car had left the road — no other vehicles are believed to have been involved.

An air ambulance is also reported to have attended the scene.

Emergency services warn that both carriageways are likely to remain closed for some, while officers carry out investigations.

The incident is affecting traffic both ways from B6326 at Fernwood, to the Claypole turn off.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible and plan their journey’s accordingly.
