Lincolnshire Police to escort abnormal load on the A46 and A1 at Newark
An abnormal load is to be escorted through the area tomorrow (June 8).
Lincolnshire Police are to escort a haulier moving large bridge sections — weighing 229 tonnes — which will be moving at speeds of 35-45mph.
It is expected to cause some delays along the route.
The load’s escort will begin around 11am from Humber Sea Terminal at Immingham Docks, move onto the A180, the A15, and then onto the A46.
The load will leave the A46 at Newark to join the A1 Northbound.
Its journey will continue on the M18 and M1 southbound, towards its final destination of Birmingham.
In a statement on social media, Lincolnshire Police said: “The route is approved by National Highways and is specifically for high/ heavy loads where a more direct route isn't feasible for abnormal loads of this size.
“We know it can be frustrating being delayed on the road, and we thank you for your patience.”
