Tuxford Academy students embark on their "bright futures" after results success
Students at Tuxford Academy received excellent results, despite the exceptional circumstances caused by the pandemic.
Ellie Hickman, of Winthorpe, achieved an A* in English literature, drama, psychology and her extended project.
She has secured her place at the University of Sheffield, where she will study English language and literature.
Ellie said: “This really shows that all of my hard work has paid off, I am so pleased with my results and looking forward to starting at university in September.”
Jacob Macpherson, of Rolleston, achieved an A* in English literature, politics and history, and is set to start at the University of Exeter to study politics.
Sam Barnett, of East Markham, also achieved an A* in maths, further maths and physics, and will be going to The University of Bristol to study theoretical physics.
He said: “I am really pleased with my results. I would also like to thank all my teachers at the academy for their support.”
Leanne Murphy, key stage five lead, said: “I am bursting with pride. Our students have shown so much resilience and dedication over the last couple of years of their education, and they deserve all of their successes and celebrations today.
“To see them finally reaping the rewards of their hard work is fantastic.
“They now have exciting futures ahead of them and I wish them all the luck in the next steps in their lives.”
Principal Jon Hardy said: “I am very proud and pleased to see that so many of our students are now able to move on to their chosen destinations and take the next steps towards what I am certain are very bright futures.
“From their first day at Tuxford, they have worked hard and displayed determination and resilience, especially in recent times.
“This has really paid off with such fantastic results.”
