Accountants' drive to run their own business Future Cloud Accounting pays off

Two women with a drive to run their own business their own way are reaping the rewards of their ambition.

Accountants Francesca Tricarico and Charlotte Wilson launched Future Cloud Accounting in Newark six months ago and already have lots of clients on board.

The two women, both in their 30s and each with two children, used to work for different branches of the same local accounting firm.

They entered their careers through different routes.

Charlotte followed the conventional path, studying at university and becoming a chartered accountant, while Francesca returned to study at college after a series of different jobs, and two children, graduating as a qualified accounting technician at 29.

It was while working for other people that Francesca considered training as an accountant.

She had always been good at maths at school and became fascinated by how people ran their business finances.

“I saw businesses that were not working, not because the business idea wasn’t good, but because they didn’t look after their finances,” she said.

It was after qualifying as an accountant, and working for a successful firm for several years, that she started thinking about her own business.

She knew of Charlotte, and a chat at a networking event set the ball rolling. They complement each other with their different strengths — Francesca as a people person and bursting with ideas, and Charlotte has strong technical and IT skills.

They launched Future Cloud Accounting in April, and it has gone from strength to strength.

They have now been joined by Francesca’s sister, Claudia, who handles administrative duties, and are hoping to take on an apprentice soon.

The business name reflects the way it works, using the latest cloud-based accounting systems and having no physical office.

Francesca and Charlotte describe themselves as friendly, forward-thinking accountants.

“Cloud-based accounting is the way forward, and we can help you to understand it,” Francesca said.
