The aftermath of Storm Babet provides issues for motorists as A1 and A617 still closed near Newark, Nottinghamshire




In the aftermath of Storm Babet, several traffic issues are presenting problems for drivers this morning.

Queueing traffic is happening due to due to people using alternative routes to avoid the closures on the A1 and the A617 due to flooding on A616 Great North Road both ways at Kelham Lane.

The A617 road is closed due to flooding on A617 both ways from A46 (Cattlemarket Roundabout) to Ollerton Road.

Due to this, travel time has increased by around 20 minutes on all approaches to the Great North Road/A616 roundabout.

Delays of around 15 minutes are occurring on A616 Ollerton Road Westbound in Little Carlton.

Average speeds there have dropped to ten mph.

Delays of ten minutes are happening on the A616 Newark Road Westbound between A616 and Rufford Lane.

Delays of around ten minutes are happening on the A1 Southbound between A1 and A46 (Newark Showground / Air Museum Turn Off).

Delays of around ten minutes are also being experienced on the A46 Northbound in Nottinghamshire.

The average speed there is around 15 mph.

Delays of ten minutes are occurring for drivers on A1 Northbound between A46 (Newark Showground / Air Museum Turn Off) and B6325 Great North Road.

The average speed here is ten mph, be advised that the A1 is closed from North Muskham as listed above.

The average speed there is 10mph.

Heavy traffic is being experienced in and around Newton, near East Bridgford.
