Air rifle used to shoot cars on the A46 near Newark - Police are investigating

Police are investigating after receiving a number reports of people shooting an air rifle at cars.

The incident took place from a banking on the A46 at Newark at around 6.20pm yesterday (Sunday, May 12).

Newark Police confirmed nobody was hurt, however, one car was reported to have been damaged.

Officers attended the scene and carried out a search between the Farndon and Newark roundabouts, but did not find the offenders.

Inspector Heather Sutton, Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for Newark, said: "Enquiries are ongoing to identify the offenders and I would urge anyone with information to come forward because this could have been extremely dangerous.

"I would ask anyone who was driving past the area to check their dash-cam footage."
