Airborne launch for village fun

More news, no ads

A flypast by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight marked the beginning of the annual Brant Broughton village fun day.

A Spitfire, Hurricane and Dakota flew over the village green on Saturday.

The fun day featured a range of attractions including welly-wanging, clay pigeon shooting, tombola, skittles, pony and trailer rides provided by White Gate Stables in the village and a range of other games and activities.

There were also teas and cakes on offer for the estimated 200 visitors.

About £700 was raised towards the cost of a new village hall.

The chairman of the village hall committee, Mr Charlie Thornton, said they had to raise about £300,000 to build the new hall and so far had raised just over £20,000.

Most of the money has been raised through fundraising events but the parish council has donated £4,000 towards the project.

Mr Thornton said they would be applying for grants to help raise the rest.
