Rev Anna Alls licensed by the Bishop of Southwell and Nottingham, the Right Rev Paul Williams at St Helen’s Church, Burton Joyce




St Helen’s Church, Burton Joyce, was packed when the Rev Anna Alls was licensed by the Bishop of Southwell and Nottingham, the Right Rev Paul Williams.

Anna became vicar of the Benefice of Burton Joyce, Bulcote and Stoke Bardolph with Lowdham, Caythorpe and Gunthorpe.

Family, friends and visiting clergy filled the church for the service of celebration.

Anna worked in retail prior to ordination and for a short time worked as a waitress at Hardwick Hall. She was ordained in 2012 after theological training at St John’s College, Bramcote.

She is married to John and they have two teenage daughters and two adult sons.

She said: “I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in to life in the united benefice, to getting to know people and the area.”

For the past three years Anna has been assistant curate in the Benefice of St James, Brinsley, St Michael and All Angels, Underwood, and St Mary’s, Eastwood ­— and Growing Disciples Priest in Ollerton with Boughton, Kneesall with Laxton and Wellow, Walesby, Egmanton, Kirton, Bilsthorpe and Eakring.

The Bishop said: “There was a tangible sense of joy and celebration as we gathered to license Anna.”
