East Midland Ambulance Service (EMAS) awarded gold award as part of the Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme

The ambulance service has received a gold award in recognition of their support for the armed forces.

The honour was awarded to East Midland Ambulance Service (EMAS) as part of the Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme, which aims to encourage organisations to support the armed forces and their communities, presenting them with either bronze, silver, or gold awards.

Leaders said they are ‘proud and delighted’ to receive the recognition after ‘several years hard work’ supporting various armed forces community members, such as, cadets, military families, and service leaders.

Kevin Thorne, chairman of the service’s armed forces staff network, said: “I am proud and delighted that EMAS has been awarded the Employer Recognition Scheme gold award from the Ministry of Defence. It demonstrates EMAS’s commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant and our support for the defence community and their families.

“This is a result of several years’ hard work, collaboration, advocacy and integration with other services by colleagues, including the EMAS Armed Forces Staff Network and our Armed Forces Champions.

“I would like to thanks everyone who assisted us on our journey, and look forward to expanding our support for service leaders, veterans, Reservists, and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers - both amongst our colleagues at EMAS and within the communities we serve.”
