The Awards For Courage was hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Newark and Newark Castle at Newark Showground, with children from Magnus Church of England Academy, Newark Academy, Newark Orchard School and Newark College

The Rotary community came together to celebrate courageous children at an awards ceremony.

Awards For Courage was hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Newark and Newark Castle at the Cedric Ford Pavilion, Newark Showground.

Those attending the ninth annual ceremonyheard stories of four children who had exceeded all expectations after being met with challenging circumstances.

The children were nominated by teachers, some of whom told the stories of their respective students, before the trophies were presented.

Olly Royle, of Magnus Church of England Academy, Newark, and Luke Dixon, of Newark Academy, attended to receive their awards with family and school staff.

The other two nominees, Kyle Reesby of Newark Orchard School and Hannah Richards, of Newark College, were unable to attend, but will receive them at school in the future.

District governor of the Rotary David Hood said: “I have now been to four of these awards and at each one I have a lump in my throat and admiration for the kids.

“Because you are a credit to yourselves and to your families and schools.”
