GAME, part of FRASER group, is closing doors at its store on Saint Marks Place, Newark





A game retailer which has been in the heart of town for over 20 years is closing its doors.

GAME on Saint Marks Place, Newark has announced to cease trade at the store on April 7.

The premises have been home to game shops for more than 20 years, initially being Game Station before being bought by the FRASER group and named GAME.

Assistant manager at the Newark store, Megan Sheldon said: “I know a lot of people in Newark who love this store and we absolutely adore the store as well.

“It is a huge loss to Newark and hopefully something happens in the future and we can get another GAME back here.

“It is definitely a massive loss to Newark. It is such a big community and we have a lot of regulars that come in and love this store as much as we do.”

The store manager, Samantha Woods said that the shop is closing down following a higher decision, which can’t be disclosed.

Most products around the shop including board games, legos, games on the shelves and trading cards are 20% off.

The chain company was another big name leaving the town following others such as Wilko, Wetherspoons and Marks and Spencer.

The FRASER group has been approached for a comment.
