Newark and Sherwood District Council appealing for witnesses after memorial roses stolen from Sconce and Devon Park flowerbed
A council has appealed for witnesses after a ‘appalling’ theft of memorial roses from a park.
Newark and Sherwood District Council responded to reports of theft at Sconce and Devon Park over the weekend, and have now appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
Several plants were taken from the memorial flowerbed at the park, including several memorial roses which had been bought and planted by members of the public to remember their lost loved ones — leaving the site almost bare.
In a social media post, the council stated: “We are absolutely appalled by this act. Our team is reviewing CCTV footage and working closely with Nottinghamshire Police to identify those responsible. This behaviour will not be tolerated in our parks.”
It has called for anyone with any information to report it to the Police on 101, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to help find the person responsible.
