Daffodil-themed pictures were exhibited as part of a competition held to raise money for a cancer charity.

More than 40 paintings and drawings by 19 artists and around 35 pictures by children were on show in the Bramley Centre, King Street, Southwell. The event raised more than £100 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The organiser, Mr Peter Millward, an art teacher of Olive Grove, Burton Joyce, said: “This year is the 60th anniversary of the foundation of the Marie Curie Cancer Care so some of the pictures reflected that theme.”

The competition was won by Mrs Freda Clamp with an oil pastel drawing of a single daffodil. She received £20-worth of art equipment vouchers.

The competition was combined with a wine tasting session run by South Notts College.
