The Auction Room- Hansons Newark, owned by Charles Hanson, announces grand opening this Saturday
A well-known face from daytime television has announced the grand opening of an auction room in Newark, along with its first live, in-room auction.
Earlier this year, Charles Hanson — star of Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip — took over Northgate Auctions, rebranding the site as The Auction Room Newark.
After months of rebranding and changes to the former Northgate Auctions, The Auction Room Newark will be opening its doors to the public this Saturday (July 5) with the live auction starting at 10am.
When Mr Hanson, a seasoned auctioneer and valuer with over 20 years of experience in the industry, has taken over the building, saying he was drawn to the town’s rich heritage and strong community.
The inaugural live event at the site on 17 Northgate, Newark, will allow the public to bid in person as well as online or over the phone.
Apart from the changes in how the auction room runs its auctions, the whole site has undergone changes over the past few months.
On Saturday, it will be the grand opening of Corner Farm Kitchen, a café serving fresh, locally grown food produced by people from the area.
Mr Hanson has also announced the acquisition of Memory Lane Antiques — The Barn, which was formerly based in Southwell but has brought its vintage finds and collectables into the Newark site.
The site has operated as an auction house for decades and is now facing a new era as it reopens under a new name and ownership.
Every month, the auction house will be hosting online antique and collectables auctions and in-person Fine Art and Antiques sales.
The Auction Room - Hansons Newark has said on its Facebook page: “Let’s bring back the tradition of bums on seats, the thrill of live bidding, and the real buzz of an auction room in full swing.”
