Famous children’s author Wilf Morgan helps spread the word about reading at Bishop Alexander Primary Academy, Newark




Pupils were visited by famous children’s author Wilf Morgan as part of a primary school scheme.

The programme, run in partnership with Newark Book Festival, saw Wilf partnered with Bishop Alexander Primary Academy, Newark.

Chelsea Buckthorp, the book festival administrator, said: “The children took part in creative writing, reading and brainstorming session.

“Wilf read some of his own books and the class used post-it notes to create a narrative for their own story.

“The whole day was about engaging the children and benefitting from reading.”

As part of the partnership, various authors will be working with pupils in schools around the area over the next few weeks.

Newark Book Festival runs from July 12 to 14 at venues around the town.
