A garden club is to feature an award-winning gardening journalist as its key speaker next week.

Orston Garden Club has booked Adam Pasco, a leader in the field for more than 37 years, for Wednesday, January 15.

He has successfully launched and edited the BBC Gardeners' World magazine for 22 years, and has edited Garden News, Garden Answers and Waitrose Garden magazine.

Mr Pasco has twice been crowned editor of the year by the British Society of Magazine Editors, and been awarded practical journalist of the year by the Garden Media Guild.

Orston Garden Club committee member, Lyn Churcher, said: "We aim to book the best speakers available for our members and create a diverse and interesting programme.

"We are very much looking forward to welcoming Adam Pasco. His topic will be easy ways to better gardening."

Mr Pasco said: "When it comes to creating a beautiful garden it's often the hard work or lack of time that get in our way.

"We need easy ideas that deliver quick results, and foolproof plants that flourish rather than flounder and fail."

Mr Pasco will be appearing at Orston Village Hall from 7.30pm. Tickets are £4 on the door.

Orston Garden Club is run by a committee of five volunteers and meets at the village hall, 7.30pm on the third Wednesday of the month.
