Barratt and David Wilson Homes install bat and bird boxes in Fernwood, Edwinstowe, and Bingham developments
In support of International Bat Night (August 24 to 25), Barratt and David Wilson Homes has been making an effort to protect local wildlife by installing various nature-friendly homes for animals, such as bird and bat boxes, alongside its properties.
Barratt Homes has installed more than 40 bird and bat boxes throughout Fernwood Village and 25 bat and bird boxes Romans’ Quarter in Bingham, as well as more boxes at their developments in Sutton-in-Ashfield and Market Warsop.
David Wilson Homes has also incorporated 11 bat-friendly habitats at its Thoresby Vale in Edwinstowe, and another 10 at their new developments in both Brinsley and Rainworth, to help protect the night-time visitors.
Martyn Parker, Sales Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands, said: “It’s important we provide homes for wildlife as well as people and bats are no exception, which is why our Nottinghamshire developments have bat boxes installed to welcome our nocturnal neighbours.”
According to the Bat Conservation Trust, bats make up more than a quarter of mammal species in the UK and around 20% of those worldwide; with over 1,400 species in total.
