Reader’s letter: Be aware of fakes

I have a part-time retirement job at a store in Newark, and was handed a fake £10 note, which I spotted and kept while requiring the customer to pay with another [genuine] £10 note.

This experience makes me think there might be a number of these fake £10 notes in circulation in Newark so you might like to advise your readership.

I have attached a photo of the fake £10 and have highlighted with arrows where it is clearly it’s a fake.

Most obviously, it is the orange colouring (which should be silver) and the missing hologram. —M. GOODMAN, Newark.
