Beaumond House Community Hospice's Newark charity shop to re-open on Tuesday

After the successful re-opening of its Southwell and Collingham shops, Beaumond House will open in Newark on Tuesday.

All three shops closed in March in line with government guidance in response to covid-19.

The ban had a huge impact on the hospice’s income.

Gary White, retail manager, said: “Although the lost income is critical to us, we have remained committed to ensuring that we have provisions and processes in place to keep customers, volunteers and colleagues safe before re-opening any of our shops.

“We have learned a huge amount from our experience of opening our Southwell and Collingham shops and have had a very positive response from our customers about both our store layout and our safety measures.

“We are now both confident and really excited that we are ready to open our Newark shop.”

The shop will re-open from 9.30am to 2.30pm on Tuesday.

Gary said: “We expect to be opening for three days a week initially, and our plan is that this will gradually increase over the next few weeks until we are back to a normal trading pattern.

“It has been really great to welcome our regular customers back to Southwell and Collingham shops and also to see some new faces. We are looking forward to doing the same in Newark.”

Customers will see the now familiar signage, floor markings, hand sanitiser and till screens, and people are asked to wear face masks. All three shops now take card payments.

All donations will have been isolated for a minimum of 72 hours before their usual processing and presentation for sale.

The Newark shop will not be accepting any donations directly in its first week of re-opening.
