‘Bellringing is a dedicated art’ — ringer for 60 years
When Margaret Snyder started to learn bellringing at Newark Parish Church at the age of 12, she was already pretty familiar with the art.
Margaret’s father, Mr Arthur Chilton, was a ringer at the church, having learned to ring at Billingborough in Lincolnshire.
He was also steeplekeeper at Newark, and a founder member of the Southwell Diocesan Guild of Church Bell Ringers.
