Betting licence refused
An application for a licence to have a betting shop and adult gaming centre at 43 Stodman Street has been refused.
The licensing committee of Newark and Sherwood District Council heard on Friday that Oak Automatics of Nottingham had applied to split the premises into a betting office and an adult gaming centre.
Three organisations, Betfred, Ladbrokes and Mark Jarvis Racing, raised objections to the application.
The licensing committee decided not to approve the application.
The legal advisor for Newark and Sherwood District Council, Mr Terry Wilson, said the main reason was because the partitioned area was not considered as separate from the adult gaming area.
