Big Antiques Weekend, organised by Field Dog Fairs, set to return at Southwell Racecourse, with filming of Bargain Hunt TV show and valuations from antiques expert Irita Marriott
With Southwell Racecourse having now reopened to the public after a period of closure and repair, things are hotting up for the big Antiques Weekend from organiser Field Dog Fairs.
Now in its 11th year and a firm favourite on the Antiques fairs calendar, the event will be brimming with indoor and outdoor stalls.
For May 2024, the event had an alternative location, with the indoor stalls being upstairs, and the outdoor stalls trackside.
Organiser Charlotte Williams said: “We were up against several obstacles, but the team at Southwell Racecourse worked with us every step of the way to ensure our event could go ahead, and a great weekend was had by everyone”.
For August 24 and 25 the event returns to its usual layout with the indoor stalls downstairs.
Charlotte added: “The newly refurbished Grandstand is first class and we are very much looking forward to holding our event there”.
A popular event for television filming, the event will have BBC Bargain Hunt filming over the 2 days, with the red and blue team competing to buy items from the fair to sell at auction to see who will make the most profit.
In addition to Bargain Hunt attending the event, auctioneer and TV antiques expert Irita Marriott will be in attendance all weekend.
Having opened her own Auction House in 2023, and appearing in several popular antiques programmes, Irita will be valuing visitors’ items all weekend with a view to consigning to auction.
Charlotte said “Visitors can bring their items to the event for valuation, and leave for consignment with Irita. No appointment is necessary for this valuation service at the event”
The weekend will have food, barista coffee, teas and a wide range of cold drinks, plus icecreams. There will be both indoor and outdoor seating. For full event details, opening times, entry fees and more visitwww.fielddogfairs.co.uk
