Preparations for Newark Air Museum’s autumn 1940s event this weekend are well in hand.

The former RAF Winthorpe Airfield site is being transformed with a distinctive 40s feel; with displays including vintage vehicles (cars and military), local history groups and wartime trade stalls.

The event, being held on Saturday and Sunday, will also feature regular performances by local 1940s-style vocalist Sarah-Jane.

Produce has already been harvested in the Dig For Victory Garden near the Anderson Shelter.

Newark Air Museum wants to encourage as many visitors as possible to enter into the 40s spirit by wearing period costume. Those participants that do will be admitted at a discounted admission rate on the day.

This year, the museum will once again have a strong emphasis on the re-enactors and promenarders wearing their winter clothing.

Normal museum admission rates for members of the public and full listing details about the events can be found at www.newarkairmuseum.org/Museum-Events
