This blooming marvellous Montana Alba clematis is now in resplendent full flower once again after it was saved from the chop when a housing development was built.
Keen gardener Maurice Wright, of Shelton Avenue, Newark, stepped in to save the clematis, which is around 20ft long and grows on a boundary wall.
Builders were about to rip it out while constructing new homes on Meldrum Crescent, directly behind his home.
“It’s just fantastic,” he said. “I couldn’t let it be destroyed.”
