Newark motocycle club Heathen Horde raises over £500 for the Children’s Bereavement Centre with charity event at The Rutland Arms in Newark
A band of brilliant bikers raised hundreds of pounds for a children’s charity during their annual get together.
Newark’s Heathen Horde, a charitable biker club, hosted a yard party at the Rutland Arms which was attended by around 250 bikers.
The day featured lots of fun with face painting, food, a raffle, and musical entertainment, as well as a best bike competition and even a charity beard shave, all contributing to a fundraising total of just over £500 for the Children’s Bereavement Centre.
The charity provides support for children and young people with the grieving process brought on by the death or terminal illness diagnosis.
Club members Granville Mullarkey and Ste Pollard helped to organise the event and were “delighted” with the outcome.
“We’ve been raising money as a group for years now, so we’re really pleased to hit our fundraising target.
“We wanted to do something for the Centre as it’s a local charity that does a lot of good for the community, so we as the community wanted to give back.
“There was lots of laughter and the event was really well attended, which was great to see.
“I want to thank everyone that came along and especially to David Porter and all the staff at the Rutland Arms for their support.”
Claire Sears of the Children’s Bereavement Centre, said: “As a charity we rely on donations to keep going.
“Just £200 helps pay for eight weeks of counselling for a child and £10 pays for a support bear.
“So this money really has the ability to change lives and help a child through a hard time.”
Granville and Ste plan to host the event again next years as well as take part in other fundraising activities, including the Children’s Bereavement Centre’s Fire Walk in Fernwood which will take place on October 26, and the Salvation Army’s Christmas Toy Run in December.
