Kartmasters returns to Nottinghamshire for the British Karting Grand Prix this weekend
High speed, high adrenaline racing returns to Nottinghamshire this weekend for the Motorsport UK Kartmasters British grand prix.
Over 300 drivers and teams, across multiple classes from cadets to seniors, will compete for the coveted prize at the event now in it's 27th year.
Trent Valley Kart Club is set to host the three days of kart racing — from Friday until Sunday (August 5 to 7) — at the Paul Fletcher International Kart Circuit near Newark.
Drivers compete for the converted GP Plate and the privilege of running this on their kart for the rest of the year.
Winning Kartmasters is also seen by many as a stepping stone towards racing in Formula 1, with many previous and current F1 drivers having taken part, including; Lewis Hamilton, George Russell, Lando Norris and Alex Albon.
Trent Valley Kart Club will host the competition as the location is the only international circuit in the UK approved and graded by the CIK-FIA — the international governing bodies for kart and auto respectively.
Practice sessions took place behind closed doors today ahead of the public qualifying and main races this weekend.
Friday will feature timed qualifying laps followed by group heats, on Saturday pre-determined random heats will take place ahead of the finals on Sunday to conclude the weekend of racing.

The company have streamed the event for the past three years and are well known within the world of karting and motorsport for their professional live streaming services.
The venue opens to spectators from 9am, Friday to Sunday, where they can grab refreshments from the on site café before enjoying the days racing.
With ticketed entry priced at just £5 and free for under 16s, the chance to seen the next Lewis Hamilton in the making does come cheap.
