Stagecoach East Midlands bus fares to increase
A bus company has confirmed it is planning to increase passenger fares next month.
Stagecoach East Midlands says fares will change from Monday, April 10, to reflect rising costs of 40% of running the services.
The £2 single fare scheme funded by the government will continue until June 30.
Dave Skepper, interim managing director for Stagecoach East Midlands, said: “Stagecoach has consistently delivered some of the lowest ticket prices in the country and we are committed to continuing to keep fares as low as possible for our passengers.”
Money from fares goes towards the day-to-day running of services as well as investing in new technology and customer improvements.
The company agreed significant pay increases for its employees across the country, reflecting the cost-of-living challenges being faced by consumers.
Ticket prices will not increase until June due to the £2 fare cap.
